Cipla net surges by 73% to Rs 242 cr in Q1

Cipla Ltd has achieved impressive growth in bottom line during the first quarter ended June 2009. The net profit went up by 72.6 per cent to Rs 241.71 crore from Rs 140.04 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Its net sales increased by 13.2 per cent to Rs 1,325 crore from Rs 1,171 crore. With excellent growth in profits, its earning per share reached at Rs 3.11 from Rs 1.80 for the last period. 

The company's earnings before interest, depreciation and taxation moved up by 66.4 per cent to Rs 353.49 crore from Rs 212.43 crore. Its interest burden increased to Rs 10.47 crore from Rs 3.66 crore in the last period.
